Words Have Power

[rhema/vison] 8/27/11

“(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” (Romans 4:17 -KJV)

"...and calleth those things which be not as though they were."

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.“ (Hebrews 4:12)

The Lord has been speaking to me about the importance of the spoken word.   How we hold the power of life and death in our tongues.  We so casually release a curse or a blessing, not understanding what happens in the spiritual realm as those words go forth.  Regardless of whether we release negative words or positive words, as the words take flight from our lips,  the task for which they were sent is being accomplished.  Both soaring through the air with very different targets in sight.  So important are spoken words that He decided to give me visuals.

Vision of  words producing Life:

SAW:  A person speaking and as they spoke I saw a river flowing with life floating on melodies of rainbows. This river floated out and up.  Carried on this river was every good thing: love, joy, happiness, peace, laughter, swords, shields, even birds and butterflies.  When we speak “life” life happens.

Vision of words producing death:

SAW: A person speaking and as they spoke  I saw a black river flowing out and downward.  I saw on this river garbage, sewer waste, daggers, lies, hate, slander.  As the person spoke the garbage would fall to the ground, becoming stumbling blocks or word hindrances for others and themselves.

HEARD:  The spoken word is so important that through it everything that is made is made!

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.“ (John 1:1)

 “1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.“ (Genesis 1:1-3)

Wow, what an important revelation: "God said".  And whatever "God said" suddenly appeared.  He spoke light, darkness, space, water, stars, living creatures, and man all into existence.  But, when God spoke man into existence he did something special.  He spoke man into the likeness of Himself.  Into the likeness of the trinity. For He says, “Let us make man in our image.” He created man to have flesh, spirit, authority.  For in God all these are present.  The flesh speaks to the person of Jesus. The spirit speaks to the Holy Spirit. Authority speaks to God for He is omnipresent and omnipotent. Now I am not saying that we are like God and can know everything and be everywhere.  I am simply stating that God gave us the right to execute authority, authority given to us by Him the one who IS omnipresent and omnipotent through the empowering workings of the Holy Spirit.

~God spoke man into the likeness of Himself~

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”(Genesis 1:27)

We were created in the image of God, then God did something else special.  He gave us dominion over all the earth.

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”(Genesis 1:26)

Dominion defined: the power or right of governing and controlling; sovereign authority.

God is sovereign and in his sovereignty He made us in His image.  We too then have sovereign authority.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. When God spoke the Word. Then the Word became Flesh.  Of course, this is referring to Jesus, but what is important to understand here is this.   Before the conception of Jesus took place, God sent his spoken word by way of Gabriel to Mary.  Then the conception of Jesus occurred --He SPOKE and THEN it happened.

“26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”

29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” (Luke 1:26-33)

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”(John 1:14)

~God’s Words are tangible creations sent from His mouth.~

By the spoken Word, God created everything.  Every thing seen and unseen exists because God spoke the Word.

“All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”(John 1:3)

How did God speak all these things into existence.  Well, He used his tongue He opened His mouth and formed words.  Spoken words.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. When God took the form of a man in the person of Jesus Christ and walked on this earth. He, again, used his tongue.  He opened His mouth and formed words to speak Life into existence.  Then Jesus used His words to speak Life out of death.  For Jesus said. "Lazarus, come out!" (This is merely one example)

“43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.” (John 11:43-44)

Jesus not only spoke to death and commanded life, but he spoke to the winds and commanded them to be still and they obeyed.

“But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.”(Matthew 8:26)

What we need to begin to understand is this: Our words contain life and death.  Not because of anything we did but because we are created in the image of God.  We have sovereign authority handed to us by the Creator of the universe.  By the sovereign God Himself, we have been given sovereign authority.

Because our words are overflow from out is in our hearts it is vitally important to get our hearts right.  We are to guard our hearts.  We guard our hearts by becoming and remaining pure. We become pure by guarding our minds.  We guard our minds by protecting our eyes and ears.  When we allow only that which is good and holy into our eye and ear gates that what is in our heart is going to be good and holy.  Therefore, we can speak with the sovereign authority of God our Father because we have been transformed into his image.  A holy image.

This is such an important revelation to grasp.  As God is calling forth His children; a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;“ (1 Peter 2:9)

For his creation is groaning in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed (Romans 8:9).  God is raising up an army, an army fitted, fashioned and designed to fight... To fight with the weapons (WORDS) of the Most High God.  These warriors have been tried by fire...they have been washed with the launder's soap (Malachi 3:2) and they are sparkling clean.  They are holy and they are pure.  They are mounted on horses that eagerly pant and stomps to hear the trumpet sound.  These warriors are fully armed. The double edged sword is sharpened.  They are lacking nothing.  And they will not stand still when they here the call (Job 39:19-24).

I employ you, know what's in your heart...Know the weapon of your tongue... Understand if your a child of God, you must use that weapon for good and not for evil...Bridle the tongue! Do NOT speak curses against your brothers and sisters, Thus saith the Lord.  "Use your tongue to speak out life."

There is coming a time when we, the sons and daughters of the Most High God, will heal the sick and raise the dead not only by laying on hands but from simply speaking the WORD! The Lord wants us to stop acting like earth bound children and start acting like THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE MOST HIGH GOD PROCLAIMING AND DECREEING LIFE OVER THE EARTH.  For what other reason do you think he gave us dominion over all creation?

The Lord not only gives us power through our tongue to produce life and death but he also gives us power to refute curses, accusations that flow from deceitful mouths.  For the Lord says this is their vindication from Me that no weapon formed, no word spoke out against a child of God will prevail (Isaiah 54:17).  We hold the power in our mouths to destroy the word curses, word hindrances spoken out by the enemy.  Execute your power!

He also taught me, and said to me: “ Let your heart retain my words;

      Keep my commands, and live. “(Proverbs 4:4)

 4 Who have said, “With our tongue we will prevail;

         Our lips are our own; Who is lord over us?”(Palm 12:4)

 “our word I have hidden in my heart, hat I might not sin against You.” (Psalm 119:11)

 “Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law; Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart.“(Psalm 119:34)

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue,

      And those who love it will eat its fruit. “(Proverbs 18:21)

“ Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” (Matthew 15:11)

 “His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression;

         Under his tongue is trouble and iniquity. “(Psalm 10:7)

 “For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction;

         Their throat is an open tomb; They flatter with their tongue.”(Psalm 5:9)

“A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,

But perverseness in it breaks the spirit. “Proverbs 15:4

“An evildoer gives heed to false lips;

      A liar listens eagerly to a spiteful tongue.“(Proverbs 17:4)

“And like their bow they have bent their tongues for lies. They are not valiant for the truth on the earth.  For they proceed from evil to evil,

      And they do not know Me,” says the LORD. “(Jeremiah 9:3)

“Their tongue is an arrow shot out;  It speaks deceit;

      One speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth,

      But in his heart he lies in wait. “(Jeremiah 9:8)

 “ My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King;  My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. “(Psalm 45:1)

“There is one who speaks like the piercing of a sword,

      But the tongue of the wise promotes health. “(Proverbs 12:18)

“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”(Mark 11:23)
