The Cloud...

[vision] 7/5/11

SAW: A dark (black) cloud advancing...

Deuteronomy 4:10-12

New International Version (NIV)
10 Remember the day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, when he said to me, “Assemble the people before me to hear my words so that they may learn to revere me as long as they live in the land and may teach them to their children.” 11 You came near and stood at the foot of the mountain while it blazed with fire to the very heavens, with black clouds and deep darkness. 12 Then the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of words but saw no form; there was only a voice.

Psalm 18:8-10

New International Version (NIV)

8 Smoke rose from his nostrils;
   consuming fire came from his mouth,
   burning coals blazed out of it.
9 He parted the heavens and came down;
   dark clouds were under his feet.
10 He mounted the cherubim and flew;
   he soared on the wings of the wind.

2 Chronicles 6

 1 Then Solomon said, “The LORD has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud; 2 I have built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.”

1 Kings 8:11-13

New International Version (NIV)
11 And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled his temple.
 12 Then Solomon said, “The LORD has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud; 13 I have indeed built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.”

Joel 2

An Army of Locusts
 1 Blow the trumpet in Zion;
   sound the alarm on my holy hill.   Let all who live in the land tremble,
   for the day of the LORD is coming.
It is close at hand—
 2 a day of darkness and gloom,
   a day of clouds and blackness.
Like dawn spreading across the mountains
   a large and mighty army comes,
such as never was in ancient times
   nor ever will be in ages to come.
 3 Before them fire devours,
   behind them a flame blazes.
Before them the land is like the garden of Eden,
   behind them, a desert waste—
   nothing escapes them.

Psalm 97

 1 The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad;
   let the distant shores rejoice.
2 Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
   righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire goes before him
   and consumes his foes on every side.

Psalm 18:10-12

10 He mounted the cherubim and flew;
   he soared on the wings of the wind.
11 He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him—
   the dark rain clouds of the sky.
12 Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced,
   with hailstones and bolts of lightning.

Zephaniah 1:14-16

New International Version (NIV)

 14 The great day of the LORD is near—
   near and coming quickly.
The cry on the day of the LORD is bitter;
   the Mighty Warrior shouts his battle cry.
15 That day will be a day of wrath—
   a day of distress and anguish,
      a day of trouble and ruin,
   a day of darkness and gloom,
      a day of clouds and blackness—
 16 a day of trumpet and battle cry
against the fortified cities
   and against the corner towers.

Ezekiel 34:11-13
New International Version (NIV)

 11 “‘For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. 12 As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. 13 I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land.

QW member posting in response to this word:

"This reminds me of the Scripture  Mal 3:2  "But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He [is] like a refiner's fire And like launderers' soap." We pray a lot for the glory of the Lord to increase, but I heard someone once said it was the glory of the Lord that killed Ananias and Sapphira. What people do not realize that sin and the glory presence of God are not friends. People cannot live compromising lives and press in for the glory of the Lord. It is a beautiful and terrible thing. I am reminded of an experience Tommy Tenney described in one of his books where the presence of the Lord came into the room in such a strong way, it came as a lightning bolt and struck the pulpit and I think broke it and the fear of the Lord fell on everyone present. There are few churches and places at the moment who will be able to endure His coming. That is why He is preparing us, He is cleansing, cleaning house. Around me I see so many changes, good changes, He is at work."

My response:
"I read your post this morning and have pondered it throughout the day... I know what I mean when I ask for more of God.. But, I also understand that more of God means more sacrifice...So, to be willing to receive more means being willing to sacrifice more... To have and experience the glory of God comes at a high price...A price not many really truly understand... God is absolute and uncompromising...I often think of this verse:

Hebrews 10:31
It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Unless you understand the nature of God: A dark advancing Cloud just doesn't make sense when referring to God...  (smile) "
